The Network Engineer L2 provides advanced operational support, monitoring, and troubleshooting for enterprise network infrastructure. This role focuses on incident resolution, change implementation, and escalation support for Level 1 teams, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of LAN/WAN, WLAN, and security devices.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Operations & Support

  • Provide Tier 2 technical support for escalated network issues (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, Firewalls, Load Balancers).
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity using enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot incidents related to connectivity, routing, switching, wireless, and security appliances.
  • Perform root cause analysis and propose long-term solutions for recurring issues.

🔹 Configuration & Implementation

  • Assist in deployment and configuration of network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, VPN gateways).
  • Support firewall rules, VLAN, routing (static, dynamic protocols like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) changes as per change management process.
  • Implement and maintain QoS, ACLs, NAT, VPN tunnels, and other network services.
  • Contribute to network upgrades, migrations, and optimization projects.

🔹 Security & Compliance

  • Support enforcement of network security policies, including patching and access control.
  • Monitor firewall and intrusion prevention alerts, escalating potential security breaches.
  • Assist in audits, compliance checks, and documentation of network configurations.

🔹 Collaboration & Escalation

  • Work closely with Level 1 engineers, providing guidance and mentoring.
  • Escalate complex issues to Level 3 / vendor TAC (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.) when required.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Server, Cloud, Applications) to resolve interdependent issues.

🔹 Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, configurations, SOPs, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Provide daily/weekly operational reports on incidents, performance, and changes.
  • Contribute to the knowledge base for frontline support teams.

Required Skills & Experience

✅ Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Routing & Switching (Cisco/Juniper/HP/Aruba).
  • Experience with firewalls and VPN technologies (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet, CheckPoint).
  • Understanding of wireless technologies (WLC, AP configuration, troubleshooting).
  • Familiarity with load balancers (F5, Citrix Netscaler).
  • Hands-on with monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, Zabbix).
  • Knowledge of ITIL process (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
