CTO / Protocol Architect

Location: Remote | Commitment: Full-time

A stealth start-up at the intersection of blockchain and AI is seeking a CTO to lead protocol architecture and technical execution. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will design the core smart contract system, set the long-term technical direction, and represent the project to the broader Web3 community.

Responsibilities

  • Core Architecture: Design and implement protocol contracts including MarketFactory, binary CFMM pools, collateral vaults, leverage management, and staking systems.
  • Infrastructure Strategy: Define and oversee an infrastructure plan that balances scalability, modularity, and resilience across multiple chains or layers.
  • Security & Audits: Lead smart contract testing, fuzzing, audits, and gas optimisation to ensure safety and performance.
  • Ecosystem Integrations: Connect the protocol with oracles, stablecoins, and wallet providers, ensuring seamless user and developer experiences.
  • Technical Leadership: Build and mentor an engineering team while maintaining a hands-on role in architecture and development.
  • Community Presence: Act as the technical face of the project, engaging with developers, ecosystem partners, and external contributors.

Requirements

  • 4–7 years in software engineering, with at least 2+ years working directly on Web3 or DeFi protocols.
  • Strong Solidity development experience with a proven track record of shipping secure contracts that have been deployed and used in production.
  • Deep understanding of DeFi primitives such as AMMs, lending, staking, derivatives, or oracle systems.
  • Familiarity with blockchain infrastructure (bridges, cross-chain messaging, stablecoin mechanics).
  • Demonstrated ability to weigh security and upgradeability trade-offs in protocol design.
  • Previous experience as a senior engineer or architect at a DeFi protocol, L1/L2, or blockchain infrastructure company is highly valued.

Nice to Have

  • Experience leading small technical teams or open-source contributors.
  • Knowledge of Rust, Go, or TypeScript alongside Solidity.
  • Prior involvement in multi-chain deployments or Layer 2 scaling solutions.
  • Comfort representing technical decisions in public forums, AMAs, or conferences.
