Lead Front-End Java Developer – 12-Month Contract

Hybrid – 1 Day Onsite (Brussels or Mechelen) | 4 Days Remote

We are looking for an experienced Lead Front-End Java Developer to join a high-impact project within the public sector. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of front-end development, mentor junior developers, and contribute to a platform that serves thousands of users.

What You’ll Do:

• Develop and implement new functionalities based on use cases and domain models.
• Act as the Lead Front-End Developer, collaborating with the technical lead.
• Support and mentor junior developers, ensuring best practices and code quality.
• Contribute flexibly to back-end development when required.
• Write, maintain, and execute tests to ensure robust functionality.
• Document work using JIRA/Confluence and participate in internal meetings.

What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years of hands-on experience with:
• Java 8+, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven, Git, IntelliJ
• Angular and TypeScript
• Strong testing skills and commitment to clean, maintainable code.
• Fluency in Dutch (mandatory).
• Experience with AWS and Docker is a strong advantage.
• Previous lead experience is not essential – we welcome developers ready to step up into a lead role.
