Role: (Forward-Deployed) Founding AI Data Engineer
Location: Zürich, Switzerland (in-person)
Seniority: 3-5+ years
About us
We started Arqh after sitting inside dispatch rooms and watching experts juggle phones, emails, spreadsheets, and brittle ERP/TMS screens to solve what are, in truth, NP-hard problems, by hand and under time pressure. Dispatchers are asked to balance cost, SLAs, capacity and driver constraints with incomplete data and noisy systems.
The result: heroic effort, inconsistent outcomes, and value left on the table...
Our vision
A unified AI command tower that (1) ingests live operational data, (2) reasons with optimization under the hood, (3) proposes transparent, auditable trade-offs, and (4) learns from feedback to get better every week. Not a black box, but a glass box; recommendations you can interrogate, constraints you can tweak, and outcomes you can trust.
The role
This is a forward-deployed role: you’ll own backend data systems and integrations while working closely with customers during onboarding and adaptation phases. You’ll translate real-world logistics challenges into robust data pipelines, clean interfaces to ERP/TMS systems, and reliable production services.
What you’ll do
- Partner with customers: run technical onboarding, adapt integrations to fit customer data, gather feedback, and turn it into system improvements.
- Design & operate data backends: model and manage tabular, NoSQL, and cloud databases (MongoDB strongly preferred; Postgres/BigQuery a plus).
- Build ETL & I/O pipelines: Python + TypeScript for ingest, transform, and sync jobs (batch & streaming) across APIs, webhooks, files, and message queues.
- Own ERP/TMS integrations (most important): implement resilient, well-documented connectors to systems like SAP HANA/S4, Oracle Transportation Management (OTM).
- Ship on modern cloud stacks: deploy/operate services like Vercel, Supabase, and public cloud (AWS & Azure); implement CI/CD.
- Containerization & orchestration: Docker/Compose and Kubernetes for repeatable environments, job scheduling, and scaling.
- (Optional/Plus) AI systems: contribute to LangGraph/LangChain, RAG pipelines, and optimization/MILP formulations (e.g., Gurobi/OR-Tools), in collaboration with our research team.
Must-have skills
- 3+ years in a data/infra/backend role with mostly Python and TypeScript.
- Strong with MongoDB (or other NoSQL), plus experience across tabular & cloud databases.
- Production-grade ETL/ELT and data integration experience (jobs, schedulers, retries, idempotency, observability).
- Cloud infra exposure (Vercel, Supabase, and at least one major cloud).
- Containers & orchestration: Docker, Compose, and Kubernetes.
- Clear, structured communication; comfortable in client-facing settings.
- Fluency in business level english absolutely required.
Nice to have
- German skills (B2+ is a big plus).
- ERP/TMS domain knowledge (SAP HANA/S4, Oracle TM/OTM).
- Experience with LangGraph/LangChain, RAG, vector databases, and MILP/optimization (Pyomo/OR-Tools/Gurobi).
What success looks like (or your first 6 months)
- You’ve led multiple customer onboardings end-to-end, delivering clean ERP/TMS data flows into Arqh’s platform.
- Our backend schemas and indexes reflect best practices and scale smoothly across massive scaled clients and stakeholders
- ETL jobs are observable & reliable (metrics, alerts, runbooks).
- You’ve helped define repeatable integration playbooks that shorten time-to-value
