What you’ll do

• Play a key role as one of Scayl’s first engineers, designing and building the core backend systems.
• Take full ownership of the codebase—driving a balance between clean, maintainable code, robust security, and high development speed.
• Work closely with our CTO and tech team to integrate new banks, fintech products, payment systems, and risk models into the platform.
• Operate in a highly regulated financial environment, where precision and security are just as critical as speed of execution.
• Shape not only our backend architecture but also our engineering culture, standards, and technical direction as the team grows.
• Develop a deep understanding of credit and the mechanics of lending.

Who you are

• 5+ years of experience designing, building, and scaling production-grade backend systems.
• Fluency in Python and PostgreSQL.
• Proven track record of building scalable, reliable, and secure systems.
• Comfortable working with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Thrive on solving complex technical problems.
• Demonstrated ability to operate with autonomy in startup environments and take end-to-end ownership.
• Bonus: Experience in fintech or familiarity with banking integrations, payments, or credit workflows
