Description
The consultant will support migration tooling and migration tasks according to the target architecture and migration strategy. Tasks include but are not limited to:
Lift & Shift migrations:
- Evaluate open-source opportunities and use native tools.
- Install software, prepare target environments.
- Execute migration, manage cutover, and provide hypercare.
- Leverage AWS Application Migration Service where relevant.
Re-architecture migrations:
- Support containerization with Amazon EKS.
- Implement infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
Database migrations:
- Analyze, convert, and migrate databases using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
- Use AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)
- Install agents, perform assessments, synchronize data, and manage cutover.
Data migrations:
- Use AWS DataSync, Storage Gateway, and Amazon S3 to design data transfer solutions.
AWS platform and product operation support:
- Provide day-to-day operational support for AWS platform services and core products
- Monitor and troubleshoot AWS services, ensuring performance and reliability
- Assist with platform maintenance, upgrades, and optimization activities
- Support incident management and resolution for AWS environments
- Provide training related to AWS platforms and services, such as AWS CloudFormation, Systems Manager.
- Set up infrastructure as code and application pipelines integrating Terraform, GitHub.
- Create documentation: onboarding guides, FAQs, and procedures
- Help application teams define KPIs, set up monitoring with Amazon CloudWatch, alarms, and alerts.
- Assist with firewall configurations and AWS Network Firewall policies.
What You’ll Do
- Work alongside platform architects and teams supporting them to build and enhance the managed AWS platform and core products
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation to manage and provision cloud resources
- Implement security and development best practices in line with AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Support in Design strategies and access controls using AWS IAM, Organizations, and Service Control Policies (SCP) to reduce deployment times and maintain a strong governance posture
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues across cloud platform products (e.g., EC2, S3, EKS, RDS)
Have a solid understanding of AWS technical domains, ideally with hands-on experience in:
- AWS AFT, CloudFormation, Terraform
- GitHub/GitOps
- AWS Systems Manager (SSM) and Ansible
- IAM / Microsoft Entra ID
- NIST cloud security standards
- AWS policy management (SCP)
- AWS FinOps tools (Cost Explorer, CUR, Glue)
- Amazon CloudWatch for observability
- Be experienced with Kubernetes, Docker, and orchestration in Amazon EKS or general Kubernetes
- Understand monitoring and observability best practices using CloudWatch and AWS Config
- Have proven experience with AWS services and CI/CD pipeline development
- Have strong knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Terraform, GitHub, and AWS Developer Tools
