Our client in the non-profit space is hiring for a Human Resources Coordinator to join their team on a permanent, fully remote basis in Toronto. The HR Coordinator will report to the Director, Human Resources and Payroll, and plays a vital role in the implementation and administration of HR programs, processes, and systems, with a focus on compliance, employee support, and organizational development. The successful candidate will support a wide range of HR functions including full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, training and development, medical leave coordination, and workplace accommodations.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to daily HR inquiries and provide guidance in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update employee records in the Elevate HRMS system.
  • Assist with employee lifecycle documentation: onboarding, performance reviews, changes, terminations, and leaves.
  • Support payroll by tracking and submitting employee data forms.
  • Manage SharePoint content and HR announcements.
  • Coordinate tax-related documents such as CRD (T1223), T2200, and Requests to Reduce Taxes at Source.
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment using the Elevate Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Coordinate screening, interviews, reference checks, offers, and onboarding documentation.
  • Oversee the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program and Internship placements, liaising with Service Canada and educational institutions.
  • Support onboarding and orientation sessions in collaboration with hiring units.
  • Administer medical leave and return-to-work processes in partnership with third-party providers.
  • Track and report on employee absences due to illness/injury.
  • Coordinate workplace accommodations, including needs assessments and equipment purchases.
  • Support various HR-related projects as assigned.
  • Provide backup support to payroll and benefits teams as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or related field.
  • CHRP/CHRL designation (or in progress) is an asset.
  • 3–5 years of experience in HR coordination and administration.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS/HRMS platforms (Elevate HR preferred).
  • Previous experience with the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program and government-funded internships is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, AODA, Human Rights Code).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Dynamics, Teams, Zoom, and Excel (advanced level).
  • High attention to detail, record-keeping accuracy, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, virtual team environment.
  • Bilingualism (English and French or other languages) is considered a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with or appreciation for inclusive, community-based organizational values.
