Position Reporting To – BI Manager

Summary/Objective

The BI Analyst is responsible for aggregating data from multiple sources in an efficient Data Warehouse and DataMart, designing enterprise-level Power BI models, and creating and managing BI and analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge.

Essential Functions

• Design, build, deploy and maintain BI solutions (e.g. tabular models, reporting tools, data integration solutions)
• Debug, monitor and troubleshoot BI solutions
• Maintain and support data analytics platforms
• Create tools to store data (e.g. relational database, tabular models)
• Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
• Collaborate with teams to integrate systems
• Develop and execute database queries and stored procedures
• Analyze and cleanse data
• Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
• Effectively present BI solutions to end users and stakeholders and provide training
• Optimize and enhance business intelligence processes and systems to help make better decisions
• Lead requirements gathering and review sessions
• Translate business needs to technical specifications
• Develop and update technical and user documentation

Skills and Qualifications

In-depth understanding of database management systems, SSAS Tabular models and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) framework. Strong knowledge of data warehouse design principles (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining.

Supply Chain Industry experience is preferred. Knowledge of financial processes and accounting fundamentals is an asset. Knowledge of Navision ERP or SAP is an asset. Excellent communication skills and ability to operate effectively in a team environment and independently.

Required Education and Experience

• BSc/BA/Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or related field
• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience as a BI Developer/Analyst or Data Scientist and proficiency in Power BI and related tools (DAX, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Proficiency in SQL queries and procedures, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), data analysis, validation, data cleansing tools and processes
• Experience in BI analytical and visualization tools (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, PowerPivot) and Excel
