Level 2 Route Switch Network Engineer (with OT Network Experience)
Location: Onsite – Louisville, KY (40202)
Duration: 6–12 months (Contract)
Rate: $61/hr W2 | $70/hr C2C
We are seeking a Level 2 Route Switch Network Engineer with strong Operational Technology (OT) network experience to design, implement, and maintain enterprise and OT network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise with Cisco (or equivalent) routing and switching platforms, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to optimize and secure network performance in both IT and OT environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Implementation
- Design and deploy Layer 2/Layer 3 network solutions, including routers, switches, and associated hardware.
- Configure and manage routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) in enterprise and data center environments.
Switching Technologies
- Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, trunking, STP, EtherChannel, and spanning tree technologies.
Network Operations & Troubleshooting
- Monitor and analyze network performance and proactively resolve complex issues (latency, routing loops, connectivity).
- Provide Level 3 escalation support for critical issues and participate in on-call rotations for escalated incidents.
Security & Compliance
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce firewalls, ACLs, and secure network policies.
- Ensure secure OT network practices in substations and remote sites.
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, and technical documentation.
- Partner with project managers, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams for smooth operations.
Upgrades & Maintenance
- Perform network upgrades, patching, and maintenance with strict change control procedures.
- Ensure high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery readiness.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in routing and switching (Cisco or equivalent platforms).
- Strong background in OT networks (industrial control systems, substations, or similar environments).
- Deep knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching (VLANs, STP, EtherChannel).
- Experience troubleshooting complex network issues across enterprise and OT networks.
- Familiarity with firewalls, ACLs, and secure network design.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Louisville, KY.
Preferred Certifications:
- CCNP, CCIE (or equivalent level of experience).
- Knowledge of NERC CIP or other compliance frameworks (a plus).
