Join us as a Senior Risk Manager

The successful candidate will be responsible for proactive identification, assessment, monitoring, measurement, and mitigation of risks. As a risk management subject matter expert, the Risk Manager will also provide analysis and support the Product Divisions in understanding their risk profile. This role will provide the right candidate with an opportunity to gain exposure to senior leadership of a variety of business functions, including other control functions such as Internal Audit, Legal and Compliance, and make an impact within a critical and highly visible firm.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Lead and further develop the framework of risk driven analytics, insights, trending, while serving the Investor Services pillar.
  • Leveraging existing risk management tools, such as the firmwide risk event database and risk and control self-assessment database to assist in causal analysis of risk matters/incidents.
  • Identify assess and escalate trends, control weaknesses and support the development of sustainable solutions for the management of risk in the business.
  • Develop and implement new tools and processes for capturing and reporting Risk insights.
  • Providing a high standard of risk transparency; reporting and communication on risk and control topics and representing the ERM InServ Risk function within the line of business (“LOB”) and on a firmwide basis.
  • Acting as a strategic ally to Product division leaders in their proactive identification, measurement, management and monitoring of risk within the InServ line of business.
  • Leading and driving a culture of risk awareness, transparency and escalation across the LOB.
  • Leading and developing a team of risk professionals to carry out the mission of ERM in the proactive identification and management of risk.
  • Lead the oversight program for outsourced activities: actively participating in various forums and meetings designed to assess outsourced activities to ensure all identified risks have been appropriately defined and proper mitigating controls have been identified and implemented, and all residual risks are acknowledged and accepted by the business prior to outsourcing and reflected in relevant documentation.
  • Supporting the holistic management of risk associated with development of new technology systems-based solutions, including new technology, working together with product risk advisors in their identification, measurement and derisking initiatives related to operational processes.
  • Fostering a culture of risk transparency, regulatory risk awareness and appropriate risk escalation to the senior management team.
  • Supporting the InServ Risk Leadership team with implementation of the risk and control framework within Investor Services (including governance, procedures, and risk-control infrastructure) for InServ’s strategy that aligns with the Firm’s risk management policies and meets regulatory expectations.
  • Developing and supporting training initiatives for InServ staff to develop risk awareness, risk culture and understanding of fundamental control principles.
  • Providing support and insights on industry best practice to initiatives impacting the Investor Services Line of Business.
  • Working closely with senior business leadership and peers in ERM, Legal, Compliance and Internal Audit to ensure effective and proactive business risk mitigation.

Requirements

  • Experience in external audit as controls auditor within financial services at an international accounting firm is a prerequisite.
  • University graduate.
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience is required, with a minimum of 7 years of risk and control focus.
  • Experience and certification in auditing, controlling and securing information systems.
  • Proven track record of leadership and continuous improvement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English language including presentations
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship and negotiation skills
  • Motivated with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, while meeting deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills pertaining to risk identification
  • Ability to articulate risk management policies and methodologies
  • Understanding of operational procedures and controls related to fund services practices
  • Knowledge of BBH products, services and practices, preferred
