Qualifications
- Proven experience in PHP development, with a strong portfolio demonstrating recent work in PHP upgrades and modernization projects.
- Deep understanding of PHP 7+ or PHP 8+ features and best practices.
- Familiarity with modern PHP tools such as PHPStan, PHPUnit, PHP_CodeSniffer, PHP Mess Detector, or Rector.
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle, version control systems (e.g., Git), and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with the client’s technical team.
- Analyze the existing PHP monolithic web client and develop a comprehensive plan for upgrading to the latest PHP version.
- Refactor and enhance the codebase to ensure compatibility with the newest PHP features and standards.
- Implement best practices in coding, testing, and documentation to ensure maintainability and scalability of the application.
- Utilize modern PHP tooling to perform static analysis, code quality checks, and automated testing.
- Coordinate with the client’s development team to ensure seamless integration and deployment of the upgraded application.
- Assist in identifying potential security vulnerabilities and implement appropriate safeguards.
- Support the migration of the application to cloud environments, particularly AWS, as part of the modernization process.
