Corelight is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Resident Engineer to support a 3-year on-site engagement with Government client in Doha, Qatar. Candidates can be located outside of Doha, Qatar but must be willing to relocate for the duration of the contract. The Resident Engineer will play a vital role in ensuring operational excellence of the Corelight solution and will drive advanced Detection Engineering efforts aligned with national cybersecurity objectives. This role is embedded within the customer's security team. Corelight subject matter experts.
Key Responsibilities:
Corelight Solution Operations & Management
- Maintain and optimize Corelight sensor deployments for maximum performance.
- Tune, write, and deploy Suricata, Yara, SIGMA, query, and Zeek rules for threat detection.
- Design and optimize data pipelines using Kafka and Elastic/QRadar/Splunk platforms.
- Implement and maintain threat intelligence feeds and data enrichment strategies.
- Conduct regular system reviews and deliver optional documentation/KPIs.
- Develop high-fidelity detections for nation-state-level cybersecurity scenarios.
- Align detection strategies with MITRE ATT&CK and emerging threat intelligence.
- Drive incident response, threat hunting, and SOC workflows using Corelight data.
- Integrate and enhance visibility across downstream platforms (e.g., SIEMs).
- Deliver informal, ongoing knowledge transfer to empower customer staff.
- Provide technical mentoring on Corelight data, scripting, detection strategies, and analytics.
- Coordinate with the customer POC and Corelight PM for milestone tracking.
- Provide monthly executive summaries with jointly agreed KPIs.
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in a cybersecurity engineering or detection engineering role in national cyber security organizations .
- Hands-on experience with:
- Corelight/Zeek and Suricata
- Threat detection scripting and tuning
- SIEMs like Elastic and IBM QRadar
- Kafka for data streaming
- Knowledge of Suricata, Zeek,, SIGMA rules, and threat intelligence frameworks.
- Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and nation-state cyber defense concepts.
- Experience working in or with government/military cyber operations preferred.
- Strong communication and knowledge-sharing skills.
- Full-time, on-site role in Doha, Qatar.
- Workdays: Sunday through Thursday, 7:00 A.M.–3:00 P.M. local time.
- Travel and relocation expenses covered as per engagement terms.
- 12-month engagement renewable for up to 3 years, contingent on completion of client onboarding.
- GIAC certifications (e.g., GCIA, GCTI, GDAT)
- CISSP, OSCP, or similar cybersecurity credentials

The compensation for this position may vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. Depending on the nature and seniority of the role, a percentage of compensation may come in the form of a commission-based or discretionary bonus. Equity and additional benefits will also be awarded.
Compensation Range
$225,000—$277,000 USD
