Backed by global technology visionaries like Sequoia Capital, Magentic brings together world class AI engineering (formers from OpenAI, Meta, and AWS) with procurement expertise (formers from McKinsey & Company and ABInBev).

We are looking for brilliant AI Engineers to join our team. We’re pushing the boundaries of AI with next-generation agentic systems that can manage entire workflows. We’re focusing on a three trillion dollar market of supply chains and procurement.

Our mission is to make global manufacturing supply chains robust to an ever-changing world, and to harness the potential of generative AI through thoughtful deployment, maximising benefits while prioritising ethical use and safety.

Why this role is so exciting!

  • Help build the future of AI in a three-trillion-pound market, working with clean, well-structured data and small, highly skilled teams.
  • Tackle problems that keep society functioning, from ensuring essential medicines reach hospitals to securing critical services
  • You will ship production-grade AI solutions to Fortune 500 procurement and supply chain teams, and you will completely transform the way these teams work.
  • You’ll be regularly pushing the envelope with new models, new frameworks, and new paradigms.
  • You’ll be working alongside the CTO to develop the very best that agentic AI can achieve.

What you will do

  • Build and deploy agentic LLM workflows that automate supplier discovery, risk monitoring and cost analysis.
  • Lead projects end to end: architecture, modelling, coding, DevOps, rollout and customer enablement.
  • You will architect and build data pipelines and APIs that feed terabytes of real-world data into our AI stack, and you will guide projects from whiteboard to customer training.
  • Design frameworks for safe and robust multi-agent collaboration, including conflict resolution and self-reflection loops.
  • Develop benchmarking suites that measure performance, safety and behaviour across domains.
  • Create tooling that connects language models to client systems such as ERP platforms and custom APIs.
  • Collaborate directly with executives and end users to refine requirements, demo prototypes and ensure delivered value.

What good looks like in this role

  • You have a strong commercial background within professional software engineering (ideally 2+ yrs)
  • You are a strong coder in Python.
  • You have deployed LLM systems to production and understand evaluation, guard-railing, and monitoring.
  • You have a Master’s or PhD degree in machine learning or computer science
  • You have a deep understanding of the core technology behind language models. Having previously conducted and published research on large language models is an an advantage here
  • You can communicate fluently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and enjoy white-boarding with customers.
  • You are capable of architecting and building complex systems from scratch

Nice to have

  • Experience with multi-agent frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation or vector-search architectures.
  • Familiarity with large-scale, data-rich business domains such as operations, finance or analytics.

Compensation and Benefits

At Magentic, we recognise and reward the talent that drives our success. We offer:

  • Competitive Equity: play a real part in Magentic’s upside.
  • A salary of £125,000-£135,000
  • Visa sponsorship (Note we are currently only accepting candidates who are currently UK-based)
  • Hybrid London HQ (3-4 days in the office).
  • Annual team retreat - a fully-funded off-site to recharge, bond, and build.

Our interview Process

We run a lightweight interview process of three stages. These are:

  1. Initial candidate screening (30 mins): this first step is an opportunity for us to learn more about your goals, interests, and how they align with the role.
  2. Design interview with the CTO (45 mins): in this step, we present you with real problems Magentic encounters, and we ask you to design a solution in a whiteboarding exercise.
  3. In-person interview (half-day, paid): for the final step, we invite you to come meet the team in-person and work alongside us! We find this is the best way for candidates to get a sense of what working at Magentic is like.
