Freelance Product Designer (3 Weeks Contract - Starting 22nd Sept)

We’re looking for a talented freelance Product Designer to join our team for a 3-week contract (starting 22nd September), working across two exciting client projects. If you have a strong product and interaction design background, and bonus points if you’ve worked with Shopify, we’d love to hear from you.

This role is on day on site a week or can be fully remote within Australia.

About the Role

You’ll be working across multiple projects within a major client account, with scope to contribute to other client work as well. Expect to design for emerging technologies, campaign launches, incremental uplifts, and full-scale platform overhauls.

The focus of this role is UI design systems - applying brand guidelines to digital products, collaborating closely with developers in a free-flowing, practical way, and making design decisions within technical constraints. You’ll be working within an established design system, expanding it by adding new components, and applying it consistently across digital experiences.

This role will suit someone who is comfortable working within a highly compliant brand environment, understands how to balance creativity with structure, and thrives in design-to-development collaboration.

What You’ll Bring

• Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe CC, etc.)
• Strong craft in typography, layout, motion, and UI
• Experience scaling and governing design systems
• Ability to apply brand identity to digital interfaces with consistency
• Skilled communicator and collaborator with developers on integration details
• Practical mindset - able to adapt designs to technical restrictions (e.g. Shopify theme work)
• Understanding of business strategies to make informed design decisions
• Ability to adapt quickly and work autonomously

Nice to Have

• Previous Shopify experience
