Senior Network Engineer

Municipality of Emmen – 36 hours per week

Contract: 6 months (only secondment)

Your role

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will work with more than 60 ICT colleagues to develop, manage, maintain, and monitor ICT infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on data and telecommunications networks, as well as their security.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and securing network components such as Cisco LAN/Nexus switches, Next-Gen Firewalls, ISE, WLAN, Cisco Prime, F5 BigIP ADCs, Infoblox IPAM, and Splunk.
• Collaborating with external partners on connectivity and integrations.
• Acting as a 3rd line support specialist within the team.
• Contributing to large-scale projects, such as the network replacement scheduled for next year.
• Ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performance network services across all connected organizations.

• Education/Experience: HBO working/thinking level, with several years of ICT/network management experience.
• Project experience: Proven ability to participate in and deliver on ICT projects.
• Environment: Experience in organizations of comparable size and complexity.
  
  

Technical knowledge (demonstrable in several areas):

• Firewalling & Security
• Application Delivery Controllers (ADC)
• Reverse Proxy & Load Balancing
• Routing & Switching
• Wireless LAN & VLAN
• DNS (internal/external) & DHCP
• IPsec & SSL
• Flexibility: Willingness to perform work outside standard working hours.
  
  

Additional expertise:

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft, VMware, Azure, and Citrix (essential).
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies (advantage).
