MakerKids is looking for a creative and energetic individual to help us launch exciting new Unreal Engine programs and inspire the next generation of young creators.
About MakerKids
MakerKids runs STEM programs for kids, including Coding, Robotics, 3D Design, and Minecraft. Our mission is to help kids learn essential technical skills in a fun and engaging way. Our programs have been featured in top media outlets like Wired, CTV, and The Globe and Mail.
Role Overview
As a Part-Time After-School & Weekend Instructor at MakerKids, you’ll lead engaging, hands-on classes where kids build their own games, interactive worlds, and 3D projects. You will help us bring our new Unreal Engine programs to life while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach kids beginner and intermediate skills in Unreal Engine, Coding, Robotics, and Minecraft.
- Facilitate fun, interactive, and age-appropriate lessons that spark creativity and curiosity.
- Guide students through game design and 3D world-building projects, supporting them in developing their own ideas.
- Encourage collaboration, and creative problem-solving in a supportive environment.
- Student or early-career professional in Game Development, Interactive Media, Virtual Production, Animation, or a related field
- Strong experience with Unreal Engine (required) — Unity or other game engines a plus
- Previous experience working with kids (teaching, camps, clubs, mentoring, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of coding concepts (Scratch as a minimum, Python or other languages is an asset)
- Creative, energetic, and passionate about making learning fun
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain)
- Successful Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Check

- Remote/virtual classes may be offered to reliable staff who demonstrate exceptional performance.
