This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to define and execute a global cybersecurity strategy for a fast-growing, innovative organization in the decentralized finance space. You will lead a team of cybersecurity engineers, oversee secure architecture across multiple platforms, and ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements. This position combines strategic vision, hands-on technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration, giving you the chance to protect critical infrastructure, safeguard client assets, and shape the company's security culture. You will influence high-impact decisions, collaborate with executive leadership, and contribute to the future of secure, scalable fintech products across multiple markets. The role is fully remote across Europe, providing flexibility while being at the forefront of cybersecurity innovation.
Accountabilities
- Define and lead the organization-wide cybersecurity strategy, aligning security initiatives with business, regulatory, and client needs
- Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of cybersecurity and infrastructure engineers
- Serve as executive-level liaison with regulators, auditors, clients, and board committees
- Partner with Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams to prepare for regulatory requirements and public company standards
- Oversee security architecture and engineering: penetration testing, threat modeling, vulnerability assessments, and secure system design
- Ensure security is embedded across product development and operations, from blockchain infrastructure to APIs, mobile, and smart contracts
- Establish and manage security operations, incident response, and compliance with frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, PCI DSS, and emerging regulations
- Promote a strong security culture through training, awareness, and leadership across teams
- 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, software engineering, or computer science with a focus on security
- 5+ years developing security programs or defining secure architectures
- 3+ years managing cybersecurity engineers directly
- Experience preparing organizations for public company standards (SOX ITGC, enterprise risk, audit readiness)
- Familiarity with regulatory environments including FCA, SEC, ESMA, MAS, and licensing processes for fintech or crypto firms
- Deep technical expertise in penetration testing, threat modeling, and secure system design
- Strong knowledge of cloud security (AWS, GCP, Oracle Cloud), Kubernetes, DevSecOps, and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with blockchain infrastructure, crypto custody, validator nodes, and smart contract security
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, Go, C/C++, JavaScript)
- Certifications preferred: CISSP, CISM, OSCP, OSWE, OSCE, CEH, Security+, GSEC; cloud and audit certifications a plus
