The EIB, the European Union's bank, in the framework of its GRAD programme, is seeking to recruit for its Management Committee (MC) - Internal Audit Department (IA) – Internal Audit – EIF & IT Division (EIF&IT) – Internal Audit IT Unit (IA-IT) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Graduate - IT Audit*.

Purpose

Internal Audit (IA) plays a critical role in the governance and management framework of the EIB Group by providing independent and objective assurance, as well as advisory services aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. IA adopts a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control processes across the EIB and EIF.

The purpose of this Graduate position within the Internal Audit Department is to support audit assignments and participate in transversal activities, such as the development and use of data analytics and Artificial Intelligence.

Operating Network

As a Graduate, you will report to the Unit Head of Internal Audit within the EIF & IT Division and contribute to audits covering a wide range of IT-related topics at the Group, EIB, or EIF level. For specific audit assignments, you may also operate under the supervision of a Senior Auditor. The role involves regular interaction with colleagues across all Directorates of the EIB Group, and with external stakeholders relevant to the audit function.

Accountabilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Unit and other senior colleagues, you will:

  • Contribute to audits covering a wide range of IT-related topics at the Group, EIB, or EIF level.
  • Keep abreast and follow latest developments in the internal audit function and in the banking industry.
  • Support the planning, fieldwork and reporting of audit assignments under supervision from experienced auditors.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the Internal Audit IT and Data Strategy by supporting integrated audits, developing advanced data analytics tools, and enhancing the use of artificial intelligence in audit processes, including visualisation techniques and interactive dashboards.
  • Follow Internal Audit processes, procedures, IT systems, methodologies and working tools.
  • Assist with the preparation of presentations, reporting and training materials.

Qualifications

  • University degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor), preferably in Information Technology or a related field.
  • No more than two years of professional experience after graduation (summer jobs and internships shorter than nine months should not be counted). Some experience in an Internal Audit or Banking environment would be an advantage.
  • Excellent writing skills and capacity to synthetise complex concepts in a clear, concise and reader-friendly manner.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving attitude.
  • Excellent knowledge of English and/or French (***), with a good command of the other. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.

(***) Unless stated explicitly as a required qualification, a good command of French is not a pre-requisite for hire. As both English and French are however official working languages of the EIB, proficiency in both languages is a pre-requisite for your future career development. Any language clause in your contract must be fulfilled in order for you to be eligible for a promotion (either via the annual appraisal cycle or via an internal selection process). Proficiency is understood to mean the attainment of level 5 of the Inter Institutional language courses, corresponding to B1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The Bank offers appropriate training support.
