About the Role
We’re seeking an Intermediate Game Play Programmer who will help develop features and systems that will make the soon to be launched Imagine Island even more fun and engaging for kids. You’ll bring a playful mindset to coding, focusing on how things feel as much as how they function. Working closely with the Game Designer and the rest of our team, you’ll share ideas, take feedback, and iterate quickly to design experiences that are age-appropriate, welcoming, and enjoyable for kids and families alike.
Responsibilities
- Build fun, responsive gameplay features in Unity (C#)
- Develop online multiplayer systems like mini-games, avatar interactions, and shops that keep players engaged.
- Ensure performance and stability across web, WebGL, and mobile.
- Manage your own tasks while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Track and submit your work using tools like Jira and Slack, staying organized and accountable.
- Iterate quickly based on feedback to polish and improve player experiences.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of Unity programming experience, or equivalent project-based background.
- Solid C# skills with an eye for gameplay feel and player experience in a multiplayer environment.
- Experience shipping to web and/or mobile platforms.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to deliver reliably.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team.
- Awareness of what makes content fun, accessible, and age-appropriate for kids while still enjoyable for families.
- Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
Nice to Have
- Experience with mini-games or short play sessions
- Familiarity with live-service or online game design
- A shipped web or mobile title
- Interest in child-friendly design and online safety
Benefits:
- A chance to help shape a brand-new online world from the ground up
- A close-knit, creative team where everyone’s voice matters.
- Flexible, remote-friendly work setup.
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
