Location: Paris
Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Experience Level: 2-4 years in Industry (Biotech Startup Environment)
About Us:
They are a fast-growing biotech startup at the cutting edge of cell biology, engineering, and artificial intelligence. Our core innovation is a digital microfluidics (DMF) platform designed to generate ultra-large, multimodal perturbational datasets. This will enable the development of AI-driven virtual cell models to accelerate discoveries in biology and therapeutic development.
Joining them means being part of a team pushing the frontiers of science and technology-transforming how biology is understood and therapeutics are developed.
The Role:
We are looking for an experimental cell biologist to help us develop and optimize assays for chemical and genetic perturbations on our DMF platform. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to CRISPR knockouts and small molecule incubations in human cell lines, validating workflows that will revolutionize drug discovery and biology research.
You will:
- Drive assay optimization for droplet-based systems
- Help validate our platform for high-throughput perturbation workflows
- Collaborate with R&D to establish reliable readouts for single-cell level analysis (viability, imaging, scRNA-seq)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assay Miniaturization & Adaptation: Optimize cell culture, CRISPR, small molecule, and scRNA-seq protocols for droplet-based DMF systems.
- Adherent Cell Culture: Develop robust methods for culturing human adherent cell lines in nanoliter droplets, focusing on microcarriers and other matrix-based approaches.
- Perturbation Workflow Development: Design and troubleshoot workflows for both chemical and genetic perturbations, and benchmark methods for perturbation efficiency.
- Single-Cell Readouts: Collaborate with the R&D team to integrate phenotypic and transcriptomic readouts, ideally achieving single-cell transcriptomics using the DMF platform.
What We're Looking For:
Required Skills:
- PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in CRISPR-based interventions (KO, KD, Activation), vector design, and delivery (viral transduction, lipofection, etc.).
- Strong experience with adherent mammalian cell culture, especially in adapting protocols for novel systems (microcarriers/3D cultures).
- Proven ability to miniaturize protocols and work in non-standard experimental contexts.
- Startup Mindset: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills:
- Experience with microfluidic platforms and single-cell sequencing technologies (e.g., scRNA-seq, Perturb-seq, Drop-seq).
- Familiarity with automated liquid handling systems and NGS data analysis (R/Python).
Why Join them?
At the company, you’ll be part of a highly innovative and collaborative team dedicated to making a real impact in biotech. If you're excited by cutting-edge science, enjoy problem-solving, and thrive in a startup culture.
- Cutting-Edge Work: Work on a platform with the potential to revolutionize biology and healthcare.
- Collaborative Team: Join a diverse and passionate team of scientists, engineers, and AI experts.
- Growth Opportunity: Shape your career at a fast-growing company with the potential for leadership roles.
- Competitive Compensation: We offer competitive salaries, equity options, and benefits to support your well-being.
