POSITION: Data Analyst


STATUS: Full-time permanent position


The mandate of Healthcare Collaborative Benefits [Co] is to develop, provide and manage a comprehensive, sustainable, and responsive employee health benefits strategy and program, co-created with and for the benefit of not-for-profit participating healthcare organizations in Canada.

SUMMARY:


Reporting directly to the Director, Data & Analytics, the Data Analyst will work closely with the Director to build and deliver the organization’s Data & Analytics strategy.


The successful candidate will have demonstrated effective people skills and aptitude, excellent communication skills, and be a self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a small agile organization, is process-oriented, and has a strong insurance foundation, ideally in Group Benefits Insurance.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Execution of an Analytics Strategy to deliver insights and drive decision-making.
  • Address key business challenges via analytical work, from requirements specification, data gathering, analysis and model building to presentations and adoption.
  • Work closely with decision makers and stakeholders to identify, recommend, develop, deploy, and support all aspects of analytics for the organization.
  • Serve external customers with high-quality, robust, and secure business intelligence products and reports.
  • Participate in the development of plans, roadmaps, and business cases regarding the acquisition of data and analytics assets and technology.
  • Contribute to data governance efforts across the company, including but not limited to data change control, data access management and data cataloguing.
  • Analyze data science trends to discover innovative and creative ways to solve business challenges.
  • Ensure the security and privacy of Co’s sensitive data and ensure business continuity.
  • Other duties as assigned.


PREFERRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:


  • An innovative and creative thinker who is open to different approaches to resolve issues;
  • Strong familiarity with data analysis and data science tools and approaches, including descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive techniques.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to apply principles of logic and scientific thinking to a wide range of problems;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Bilingual with French would be seen as an asset), with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A proven track record in customer service coupled with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • An interest in personal development and eagerness to learn new things.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
  • Stakeholder presentation skills.


EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:


  • To be successful in this role, you will possess a university degree preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics or Information Systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in analytics role
  • 2+ years of experience in data modelling, data visualization and presenting data to stakeholders.
  • 4+ years of experience in group benefits industry and/or the healthcare sector.
  • You possess advanced technology knowledge, including current network and operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Experience with data, integration, architecture, analysis and data science, including big data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Experience with the Microsoft suite of cloud data products and services, including but not limited to Power BI, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Databases, and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing, including dimensional data modelling, data pipeline development, and ETL orchestration.
  • Most importantly, you are an agile, enthusiastic, and creative thinker, who is constantly driving performance improvement and are passionate about providing an enhanced benefits experience for the Canadian healthcare system.


WORKING CONDITIONS: Flexible work model


  • Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm ET
  • May be required to attend functions/meetings during off hours
  • Travel: 1-5% anticipated
