Aitaca is an innovative startup based in Madrid, specialized in using computer vision and AI to provide size recommendations for jewelry and smart rings. We launched in 2021, and our technology is already integrated into the e-commerce platforms of multiple companies around the world… and we’re still growing!

You’ll join our tech team and work on the backend systems that power our web applications and AI-based recommendations. From designing and building APIs to managing databases and contributing to infrastructure decisions, this internship is a chance to get your hands dirty with meaningful challenges in a fast-moving environment.

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Python (primarily FastAPI or Flask).
• Build and optimize database schemas and queries, primarily using PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy.
• Collaborate on AWS infrastructure tasks and help maintain a stable production environment.
• Use GitHub for version control, code reviews, and team collaboration.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Work closely with frontend developers to define clear and consistent API contracts.
• Write and maintain clear, developer-friendly documentation.

• Solid understanding of backend development in Python and web frameworks like FastAPI or Flask
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and experience using ORMs such as SQLAlchemy.
• Interest in cloud infrastructure and learning how to deploy production-ready systems.
• Ability to work in a team using English (our daily working language), following Agile methodologies and using tools like Jira and GitHub to coordinate and structure our work. You don’t need experience with all of these, but you should be excited to care not just about what you build, but how you build it as part of a team.
• Willingness to organize and carry out your work autonomously and responsibly—though you’ll always have the team’s support.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute ideas, not just execute assigned tasks.

• Experience with containerized applications (e.g., Docker).
• Understanding of testing frameworks like Pytest or Unittest.
• Exposure to AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, Lambda).
• Knowledge of asynchronous processing (e.g., Celery).

We’re a small and close-knit team (about 6 people in Tech) working on real products with real users around the world. You’ll work directly with experienced engineers and have the chance to learn, contribute, and grow every day.
