Senior Java Developer

Grid Dynamics is looking for a Senior Java Developer to join a team working on a large-scale data migration project. The main goal is to extract semi-structured data from Quip documents and insert it into a relational database for further use within an internally managed web application. While part of the automation already exists, the tooling requires enhancements and fixes to ensure accuracy and handle discrepancies in the data.

The project involves taking over significant parts of an existing system, implementing new functionality, and integrating asynchronously with the front-end via REST API and JSON. The team is also driving modernization initiatives, including the adoption of Kubernetes and improvements to the backend written in Java and Scala.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of large parts of the existing backend project and extend functionality.
• Design, develop, and maintain services using Java (Spring Boot).
• Build and optimize integrations with REST APIs and JSON.
• Parse and transform semi-structured data (HTML/DOM, JSON) into relational formats.
• Deploy, monitor, and manage services in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Ensure accuracy and reliability of data migration pipelines, fixing discrepancies where identified.
• Collaborate closely with distributed team members, including a required overlap between 9 AM – 11 AM PST.
  
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Java Developer.
• Strong knowledge of Java 8+ and Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency in working with REST APIs and JSON data.
• Experience with HTML/DOM parsing and transforming semi-structured data.
• Solid understanding of Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with partially automated systems.
