The opportunity :
As a senior AI/ML engineer, you’ll play a key role in shaping how we use AI across the business. You’ll design and build scalable data pipelines and machine learning models, and turn them into products and services that create real value for our teams and customers. You’ll be hands-on with cutting-edge tools in Microsoft Fabric, Azure Machine Learning and MLflow, and collaborate with analytics engineers, data scientists, product managers and software developers to deliver data products that power customer interactions and drive insight.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, mentoring others, and driving innovation in a fast-moving environment.
What you’ll do :
- Build and maintain end-to-end AI/ML data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric, from ingestion and transformation through to model deployment and monitoring
- Design and develop machine learning and deep learning models to solve real business challenges and improve decision-making
- Deploy models via Azure ML and MLflow, track performance and retrain where needed
- Establish MLOps best practices: versioned data & features, reproducible training, CI/CD, promotion gates, canary/blue green deploys, rollback
- Work closely with colleagues across data science, analytics and the wider business to identify opportunities and turn them into AI-driven products and dashboards
- Uphold data quality, governance and security throughout the AI/ML lifecycle
- Implement model monitoring (latency, drift, cost), alerts, runbooks and validation and tuning processes to ensure accuracy and reliability. Agree SLOs with the platform team
- Evaluate and adopt new tools and practices to enhance our MLOps stack and modernise our platform
- Work with the data scientists to apply AI responsibly through evaluation plans, bias/fairness checks, model cards
- Support and mentor junior colleagues, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of collaboration
Essential
- Strong experience designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and architectures for AI/ML
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric (Data Engineering, Data Science, Real-Time Analytics) and Azure ML, including MLflow
- Proficiency with tools such as Apache Spark, Azure Data Factory, GIT, Python and SQL
- Skilled in developing, training and deploying machine learning models with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch or Scikit-learn
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data governance, security and responsible AI practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences
- Ability to manage priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with generative AI, large language models (e.g. LangChain, vector databases) and retrieval-augmented generation
- Knowledge of AutoML, hyperparameter tuning and advanced MLflow features
- Experience with streaming and real-time data platforms
- Familiarity with CI/CD, MLOps and deployment pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Docker)
- Commercial awareness in e-commerce, travel or holiday-lettings sectors
- Experience mentoring others or leading technical workstreams
