Key Responsibilities
- Optimize the Web Browser/Chromium Engine for HarmonyOS by researching key algorithms and improving web performance (e.g., page load times, gesture response, janks, white screen, etc.), power consumption (CPU/GPU) and memory usage.
- Explore, evaluate and prototype cutting-edge technologies (e.g., Vulkan, Skia, AI/Compute, etc.) to improve parallelism, throughput, and efficiency inside Chromium/Blink (C++) for mobile SoC/GPU.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies in academia and industry/open-source (e.g., Apple-Safari, Google-Chrome, Mozilla/Servo, etc.) in the domain and provide insightful analysis reports.
- Knowledge of compilers and optimizing the V8 JavaScript engine for HarmonyOS web use-cases is considered a plus.
- BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in C/C++ programming.
- Extensive experience in embedded systems and OS architecture, including in-depth knowledge of system internals.
- Strong debugging and profiling skills for low-level code and system architecture.
- Solid understanding of browser engine and graphics principles (e.g., OpenGL ES, Vulkan, Direct3D).
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Open-minded, proactive and eager to learn.
- Strong understanding of web browser internals (e.g., parsing, layout, painting, rasterization, composition).
- Experience in mobile systems or web/graphics-related projects.
- Contributions to open-source repositories, including submitting patches or papers presented at international conferences.
Location: Tampere or Helsinki, Finland.
