About the Role


As a Backend Engineer, you will manage multiple backends deployed on AWS. The position will be focused on building, maintaining, and improving current and future backends used to serve our apps. In this role, you will be expected to take ownership by creating, testing and deploying production-ready code.


Here at Eightpoint, we are innovators in the app space. Building apps, creating tools, and developing experiences that users want. As a backend engineer, you will have autonomy to modify and enhance the backend you build and maintain. Close collaboration with our iOS Development, BIA and User Acquisition teams will occur daily. You will participate in building back-end processes and optimizations, creating & collecting content for the apps & designing and deploying cutting edge user experiences.


Key Responsibilities


  • Coding: Building a robust backend using Kotlin with Spring Boot, and deploying it on AWS Kubernetes clusters
  • Infrastructure: Improve the existing Terraform code
  • Maintain: Existing backend and infrastructure code and keep any new infrastructure change from Terraform not from the AWS Web UI
  • Observability: Supervise the existing services on AWS to work smoothly without downtime. Manage any alerts and clear them when they happen.


Who You Are


  • 3+ years’ development experience, with advanced knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, RESTful services
  • Good understanding of Java Design Patterns
  • Experience with implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL)
  • Experience with AWS: Lambdas, S3, Kubernetes, CloudWatch, Route53
  • Experience with Terraform to develop and maintain infrastructure as a code
  • Experience with code versioning using Git
