About the Role

We are looking for a Senior PHP Backend Developer to take a leading role in scaling a mission-critical SaaS platform that powers financial and operational workflows for healthcare organizations. The system is currently a large Laravel monolith — your mission will be to evolve it into a modern, service-oriented architecture while keeping it reliable, performant, and enterprise-ready.

What You’ll Do

• Refactor and modularize a large Laravel codebase to support long-term scalability.
• Improve database performance and reliability in high-throughput, revenue-critical workflows.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code with PHPUnit, and provide thoughtful peer reviews.
• Profile and optimize performance in critical application paths.
• Enhance observability and monitoring across services.
• Integrate with third-party APIs and services to extend platform capabilities.
• Use AI-assisted coding and testing tools to boost quality and productivity.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of PHP/Laravel experience with strong architectural understanding.
• Solid background in testing (PHPUnit) and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and modern DevOps workflows.
• Familiarity with clustered MySQL, Redis, and queues (RabbitMQ/Kafka).
• Strong understanding of system scalability, performance, and reliability challenges.
• Clear communicator who can collaborate effectively in a global, remote-first team.

Nice to Have

• Experience with GoLang or another strongly typed language.
• Familiarity with Angular or other frontend frameworks.
• Previous experience working on SaaS products in healthcare, fintech, or other compliance-heavy domains.
