About the Role

A permanent opportunity is now available for a Backend Software Developer to join a small, collaborative product engineering team working on cutting-edge optimisation and integration projects. The role is based in Perth with hybrid flexibility—typically one day working from home.

This is a hands-on role focused on backend development using C# and SQL, with some involvement in design and integration work. You’ll work closely with senior developers, solution architects, and engineering leads to build high-quality software and optimise systems that service hundreds of buildings across Australia.

The work will include API development, Azure integrations, problem-solving in design sessions, and participation across the full software development lifecycle. The team values attitude and collaboration as much as technical capability.

You Should Have

  • At least 4 years' hands-on experience with C# .NET
  • Solid understanding of SQL and working with SQL Server databases
  • Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure, AWS or GCP—1 year+)
  • A good grasp of software development processes and life cycles
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a team
  • A positive attitude, openness to feedback, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work across multiple tasks and adapt quickly to shifting priorities

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with Azure services
  • Exposure to system or application integration projects
  • Involvement in design or architecture sessions
  • Familiarity with modern optimisation or resource efficiency initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Write clean, maintainable backend code (around 80% hands-on coding)
  • Collaborate in early-stage design and technical problem-solving sessions
  • Build and maintain APIs and backend services
  • Work with Azure integrations to support enterprise optimisation solutions
  • Contribute to improving system performance and maintainability
  • Engage with team leads, architects and fellow developers in a close-knit team environment

The Benefits

  • Salary up to $140k + Super (depending on experience)
  • Flexible work environment with 1 day work-from-home and adaptable hours
  • Plenty of senior developers and architects to learn and grow from
  • Involvement in the full software lifecycle, not just the coding
  • Strong culture that encourages collaboration, learning, and ownership
  • Work on meaningful projects that impact hundreds of buildings across Australia
