About Us

At Alveos, we’re building the world’s first acoustics-based continuous respiratory monitor. Our first product, Alveos One, is a wearable that sits unobtrusively on the chest and uses advanced acoustic sensing to track breathing in everyday life. We believe breathing should be the fourth pillar of health - alongside sleep, nutrition, and exercise - and our goal is to make respiratory health measurable, actionable, and mainstream.

We are a founding team with deep expertise in commercial strategy, product, and hardware development. We are now looking for a fifth co-founder to take the lead on the scientific and data side of our journey.

The Role

You’ll be the scientific backbone of Alveos, with a focus on respiratory physiology and biomarker development. Together with our advisors and university partners you’ll be steering our scientific efforts and shaping our data strategy.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Biomarker Development: Defining and validating respiratory metrics (e.g., respiratory rate, nasal vs oral breathing, variability, recovery markers) that deliver real-world value.
  • Signal Analysis: Working with acoustic data to prototype algorithms, test methods, and assess feasibility. (Deep ML builds will be supported by additional hires/contractors.)
  • Scientific Validation: Leading the design and oversight of validation studies with universities, ensuring rigorous methodology and outcomes.
  • Scientific Roadmap: Prioritizing which biomarkers we go after, and how they connect to user-facing benefits.
  • Team Building: Helping recruit and mentor our science & data team as we grow.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Acting as the bridge between science, engineering, and product, ensuring our algorithms are accurate, scalable, and clinically relevant.
Who You Are

  • Strong academic or industry background in respiratory physiology, sports science, or biomedical engineering.
  • Experience working with biosignals (respiratory, acoustic, ECG, PPG, or similar).
  • Comfortable with signal processing, algorithm building and basic coding skills (Python/Matlab/R preferred), able to build prototypes and test ideas.
  • Experience in running or collaborating on research studies (protocol design, ethics, data collection, publication).
  • Excited about translating science into a real-world product, not just publishing papers.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spark, with tolerance of risk and a desire for impact
  • Bonus points if you’ve:
  • Worked with respiratory monitoring devices or wearables before
  • Published in relevant fields
  • Supervised teams or research projects
  • Experience in in ML/AI applications for physiology

What We Offer

  • A co-founder seat with meaningful equity.
  • The opportunity to take cutting-edge respiratory science out of the lab and into the hands of millions.
  • A strong founding team covering business, product, and hardware, with you as the scientific pillar.
  • An ecosystem of advisors and university partners already engaged, ready to support your work.
  • The resources to build your own team (data/ML hires, research assistants) as we grow.
