EIB Trainee – Group Risk & Compliance Directorate – EIB Group Model Validation Division – based in Luxembourg

The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Group Risk & Compliance Directorate (GR&C) – EIB Group Model Validation Division (VAL), at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEE
Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 1st March/April 2025)
(With possible extension up to 6 months if required by University)

Objective of the traineeship
You will help the officers in the team to design and implement tools to perform quantitative analysis tasks. You will support one of the Division's main activities, independent reviews (validation) of all models developed and used across the Group.

Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Support the model validation officers in designing and implementing tools for the automation of reporting or quantitative analysis tasks;
- Assist the team in performing its data analysis activities (eg. data preparation / cleansing; tests of hypothesis, back-testing, benchmarking, robustness/stability analysis);
- Conduct a literature survey on the relevant subject, where needed.
- Final year of studies or University degree in a Quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Finance, or relevant fields
- Interest in financial applications.
- A previous traineeship or other experience in a financial institution would be an advantage;
- Strong computer programming skills in at least one of the following Python/C(++);
- Prior experience in data sourcing and manipulation using SQL will be a plus;
- Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French; Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
