About Us

We are a European scale-up dedicated to developing cutting-edge, automated

wind-assisted propulsion systems. We aim to provide a turnkey solution for

shipowners and shipping companies seeking to reduce fuel costs and emissions.

Our vision is simple yet ambitious—we aim to power the world with wind.

Imagine a world where the vast oceans are effortlessly traversed using the clean

and boundless power of the wind. At bound4blue, we are turning this dream

into reality. We're not just creating wind propulsion systems but revolutionizing

the maritime industry, one sustainable voyage at a time. While bringing sails

back to ships may seem challenging, we are more than prepared for it. We are

innovators who understand the perfect harmony between nature and

technology.

About The Role

As a Junior Data Scientist, you will support the development of mathematical

models and analytical tools that contribute to our product innovation efforts.

Working under the guidance of senior team members, you will help transform

data into insights that inform engineering decisions and product improvements.

This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to

grow in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.

You will be exposed to real-world engineering challenges and contribute to the

creation of scalable, data-driven solutions at the intersection of science and

technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, validation, and implementation of mathematical and

data-driven models.

  • Support data preprocessing, cleaning, and transformation for modelling

and analysis purposes.

  • Contribute to the development of machine learning models under the

supervision of experienced team members.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Data teams to understand

modelling requirements and integration needs.

  • Participate in model testing, evaluation, and basic performance

monitoring.

  • Engage in numerical simulations, exploratory data analysis, and reporting

to support R&D activities.

Required Competencies

  • Up to 2 years of experience (including internships or academic projects)

in data science, analytics, or applied research.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer

Science, or another quantitative discipline.

  • Familiarity with core mathematical concepts such as linear algebra,

calculus, statistics, and numerical methods.

  • Basic programming skills in Python and exposure to scientific libraries

(e.g., NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn).

  • Interest in developing skills in machine learning, end-to-end model

deployment, and numerical modeling grounded in solid physics and

aerodynamic principles, with a strong focus on highly explainable models.

  • Willingness to learn about containerization tools (e.g., Docker) and cloud

environments.

  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation in English.
  • A proactive and curious mindset, with a strong motivation to grow in

applied problem-solving.

What Awaits You

  • Learning Opportunity: Work alongside experienced scientists and

engineers, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology.

  • Real-World Impact: Contribute to projects that support sustainable

innovation in maritime transport.

  • Collaborative Culture: Join a supportive, multidisciplinary team where

knowledge-sharing and mentorship are part of the daily workflow.

  • Professional Growth: Be part of a fast-growing company that values

initiative, learning, and individual contribution.
