A lot of the logistics at bol we do ourselves. We have our own machines, our own warehouses and our own IT systems. Together with our logistic partners, we control everything. Thousands of people work here every day to keep goods flowing, and we manage that together. Our SecOps team of hackers, defenders and problem-solvers makes sure the bad guys stay out and warehouse operations can always continue, so that every customer receives the right products at the promised time!

The biggest challenge 

In an ever-increasing internet-connected world where it is increasingly common Operational Technology (OT) systems become part of IT networks, the risk of logistical systems getting hacked is real. Keeping OT and logistics-related systems secure even though they were not built with security in mind, and whilst ensuring close to 100% uptime, is where you come in.

What You Do As Operation Technology Security Specialist

In this role you will be the security expert in the field of Logistics within our multi-disciplinary operations team. Together with colleagues from a variety of professional backgrounds you find solutions to weaknesses in our OT and IT networks. You perform security reviews on IT and OT network designs and contribute to state-of-the-art security engineering and monitoring solutions, specifically scoped to our warehouses. You work closely with the warehouse teams that are responsible for warehouse management and control systems, smart robots, PLCs and other innovative logistics-related IT and OT. Together with your security engineering and hacking colleagues in the team, you will be responsible for keeping bol safe and secure.

Because you are an open-minded security engineer who is passionate about everything tech. Experience with working in a logistics environment (IT and OT), where everything happens at a quick pace, is a must.

The role calls for a quick learner who almost instinctively navigates our landscape, that consists of various technologies, such as Linux, Kubernetes, Azure (Sentinel), Google Cloud Platform, python, java, bash, proxies, load balancers and firewalls. Is that list a bit too extensive? No problem. If you master some and want to master the others, we will gladly help you on your way. What we do consider pivotal, however, is the right mindset.
