This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of cybersecurity, supporting high-stakes operations for a major federal client. You will analyze and interpret cyber threat intelligence, develop actionable insights, and produce briefings to guide security decision-making across multiple stakeholder levels. The position requires hands-on technical analysis, threat hunting, and proactive assessment of emerging threats, including malware, intrusion attempts, and advanced persistent threats. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, develop and implement tools and scripts for threat detection, and support strategic cybersecurity initiatives. This fully remote role provides autonomy while engaging in meaningful work that directly strengthens national cyber defenses.

Accountabilities:

  • Research, analyze, and report on cyber threats, producing bulletins, alerts, and briefings for multiple audiences, including executive leadership
  • Conduct threat hunting, malware analysis, and intrusion detection to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Develop and implement scripts, tools, and processes to support Tier 1 and Tier 2 incident detection and response
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams on insider threat programs, threat hunting exercises, and after-action reviews
  • Ensure all reporting and documentation adhere to quality, editorial, and government standards
  • Analyze network and host monitoring systems, security logs, and alerts to identify anomalous activity and potential threats
  • Maintain situational awareness of adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), including application of frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience (minimum 4 years relevant experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in cyber threat intelligence, technical analysis, threat hunting, and threat attribution
  • 2-4+ years of hands-on experience in security operations, network monitoring, intrusion detection, or anomaly detection
  • Required certification: CISSP, GCIH, or GCTI
  • Strong knowledge of malware analysis, infection vectors, defense strategies, and cyber intelligence principles
  • Expertise with network logging, SIEM systems, forensic analysis tools, firewalls, IPS/IDS, antivirus solutions, and enterprise security tools
  • Proficiency in Splunk, Varonis, SECOPS RSA Archer, Microsoft ATP, NetWitness, Palo Alto, Wireshark, Tenable, and related tools
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including executive-level briefing and reporting capabilities
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet tactical and strategic objectives


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with international cyber threat trends, adversary behavior, and current cybersecurity landscape
  • Experience developing or enhancing automated tools for threat analysis using Python, Bash, or similar languages
  • Previous experience managing or coordinating interdisciplinary project teams
