Job Title: DevOps/Cloud Engineer
Location: Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (Hybrid)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Our client are looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to join their technology team and play a key role in the management, automation, and optimisation of their cloud infrastructure. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you’ll be directly involved in delivering reliable, secure, and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, manage, and optimise Microsoft Azure infrastructure and services.
- Automate tasks and processes using PowerShell and Azure CLI.
- Maintain and configure Windows Server environments, including networking and security.
- Work with VMware/vSphere virtualised environments to ensure availability and performance.
- Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements for efficiency and resilience.
- Collaborate with development and IT teams to streamline software delivery and infrastructure operations.
- Ensure best practices are followed in cost management, security, and compliance within Azure.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a DevOps, Cloud, or Infrastructure Engineering role.
- Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
- Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting and Azure CLI.
- Solid knowledge of Windows Server administration and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with VMware / vSphere environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting solutions in a cloud or hybrid environment.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work across teams in a fast-paced setting.
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Exposure to .NET application deployment and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar).
- Experience implementing automation for cloud cost optimisation and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, or other monitoring/observability tools.
