Network Security Engineer

Contract/Hybrid (3 days office)/Brussels

We are working with a leading digital consultancy who are supporting a well established European Institution to deliver their Network and Security needs. As part of this initiative we are looking for an experienced Network Security Engineer to work in Brussels on a Hybrid basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 2nd-level incident response and handle service requests.
• Drive problem management, root cause analysis, and service improvements.
• Support network lifecycle management and ensure compliance with best practices.
• Design, implement, and configure secure network solutions.
• Manage documentation, configuration changes, and network monitoring tools.
• Contribute to automation, scripting, and operational dashboards.
• Collaborate across teams to migrate new systems into production.

Experience Required:

• 8+ years of experience in large-scale network operations.
• Strong knowledge of routing/switching (BGP, OSPF, VLAN, VPNs, MPLS).
• Hands-on with firewalls (Cisco ASA, Check Point, FortiGate).
• Familiar with automation & scripting (Python, Ansible, Terraform a plus).
• Experience in multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet).
• Fluent English (C Level).
• Certifications (CCNA, CCNP, NSE4) are a bonus, not a must.

Desirable Experience:

• Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, hybrid-cloud).
• Container networking (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Network telemetry and SDN/virtualization (NSX, Cisco ACI).
