About the role:

As a Senior Industrial Designer, you will drive the creation of innovative, user-centered products that reflect Suunto’s brand identity and strategic direction. This role blends aesthetics, functionality, and emotional appeal to deliver meaningful product experiences. From concept to production, you will ensure that outcomes are visually compelling, intuitive, and manufacturable. Working closely with engineering, marketing, and other cross-functional teams, you will shape the physical expression of products that resonate with users and strengthen the brand.

Key activities for the role:

• Drive design development across diverse product categories, delivering innovative and distinctive solutions.
• Translate user insights, brand values, and business objectives into impactful product experiences.
• Lead the end-to-end design process, from concept ideation to final execution.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and strategic alignment.
• Communicate design concepts through sketches, renderings, and prototypes.
• Develop high-quality, production-ready parametric 3D models to support manufacturing.
• Leverage user feedback and market insights to inform and refine design decisions.
• Contribute to design reviews, workshops, and collaborative brainstorming sessions.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure product quality and timely delivery.
• Stay current on industry trends, emerging materials, technologies, and consumer behavior.
• Collaborate with external agencies and freelance partners as needed.

What makes you successful in this role:

To be successful in this role, you have strong conceptual and creative thinking skills with a refined aesthetic sensibility. You’re experienced in shaping and evolving product form language in line with brand identity, and you can transform abstract ideas into tangible, manufacturable designs. You’re proficient in 3D modeling and visualization, strong sketching skills are considered an asset. You have solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production methods, and you communicate and present your ideas with clarity. You thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environment, approach challenges with a user-centered mindset, and are aware of sustainable and circular design strategies.

You should have the following qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in industrial design or a related design field.
• Minimum 6–8 years of experience in industrial design, preferably in consumer electronics, wearables, lifestyle, sports, or related industries.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Creo, Rhino, KeyShot, Blender, Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Experience with 3D printing, physical model making, ergonomics, and user-centered design methods.
• Strong understanding of material innovation and sustainable design practices.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in Finnish and Chinese is a plus.
