In YouGov Shopper, we believe that constant innovation is the key to improve the pertinence and quality of the data that we receive from our consumer panel members and app users.

To achieve this goal, we have developed a coding framework that automatically enriches shop receipts and consequently reduces work for our panellists.

As Junior Data Scientist, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team of machine learning engineers, developers, and fellow data scientists. Together, you’ll help design and build new components of our coding framework, enabling richer insights by enhancing consumer panel purchase data.

Here’s a breakdown of what you’ll do (not all of it, just the important stuff):

  • Development and evaluation of NLP and ML models for tasks such as text classification, clustering, entity recognition, and semantic search.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis and create clear visualizations to understand patterns and trends.
  • Be active as a member of our Agile Team, participate in the definition of tasks, share your findings, raise risks and uncertainty, challenge priorities during our plannings.
  • Present your achievements to the team and to broader audience during agile ceremonies (sprint reviews, system demos…).
  • Learn more about the various areas in Yougov Shopper by working on cross-team projects.
  • Stay up to date with basic advancements in machine learning and NLP, applying new techniques under guidance.
