Minor bug fixes and performance improvements – you’ve probably seen those words a million times in the App Store. It’s the closest most iOS Developers will ever get to receiving public credit for their work. And you get the chance to be one of them! Not convincing enough? Ok, how about a position as iOS Chapter Lead with one of the leading mobile development agencies in Europe, responsible for some of the most successful mobile apps currently in the App Store?
Sounds interesting, tell me more
This company has been leading the mobile development game for over 15 years and there’s a good chance you’ve used at least one of their apps at some point. Doing homework, booking travel, checking the weather or just killing time with a casual game, they’ve got something for everyone. And you can be a part of the team that makes it happen.
Working here is about spotting opportunities and grabbing them. They work with their own version of the Spotify model, meaning they work in multi-disciplinary teams (Squads) that each have full ownership over one of the products. Each Squad is led by a small team responsible for defining the roadmap, managing the backlog and overseeing delivery. Think of them like start-ups inside a bigger company, complete with their own management team. The rest of the Squad is made up of colleagues from various disciplines required for the quarterly goals, including iOS Developers.
Cool, but what would I have to do?
As the iOS Chapter Lead it will be your role to lead the iOS Developers across the entire organization. They each work with their own squad, but you’re the one they come to for guidance in their personal development, HR-related matters, and general management support. Consider your Chapter to be your own personal consultancy crew, with every member being involved in a different squad. The Chapter is where they come for sparring sessions with other devs, exchanging ideas, obstacles, experiences and best practices. Of course, you’re still hands-on, so you also get to hone your skills further.
Do you think I have what it takes?
About
If you’ve been in a lead role before and have solid experience in iOS Development, you could definitely be a strong fit. Want to know more about the technology? Here’s a nice short list of stuff they work with:
