Job Purpose
The Senior Data Engineer will work under the direction of the Head of Data & Analytics, focusing on designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and models that drive analytics and business intelligence across the organization. This role is pivotal in ensuring data reliability, cleanliness, and trustworthiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from various sources.
- Build and optimize data models for analytics, reporting, and machine learning applications.
- Integrate both structured and semi-structured data, including databases, APIs, JSON, HL7/FHIR, and flat files.
- Implement robust data validation and quality checks to guarantee accuracy and reliability.
- Support migrations from on-premises to cloud platforms as well as modern data platform implementations.
- Collaborate with analytics, BI, and application teams to deliver end-to-end data solutions.
- Document workflows, processes, and data lineage for transparency and future reference.
- Ensure regulatory compliance in data and databases, including ADHICS, and maintain ITIL knowledge for effective change and release management.
- Familiar and well versed with Microsoft Fabric or Azure ecosystem.
- Handle protected health information (PHI) and adhere to healthcare compliance standards (UAE Health Data Law, DOH requirements).
- Experience with real-time streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka) and MLOps practices.
- Healthcare-specific experience preferred, such as working with EHR/EMR systems, genomics/biomarker data pipelines, and wearable/IoT health data integration.
- Full Hands on with MS Fabric or Azure Data Ecosystem, Lakehouse is key.
- Ensure adherence to data security and privacy regulations, particularly those related to healthcare data (e.g., ADHICS, UAE Health Data Law).
- Support implementation of data governance best practices and contribute to audit readiness for regulatory requirements.
- Follow internal ITIL-based change and release management processes.

- 7-10 years of hands-on experience in data engineering.
- Expertise in SQL, Python (or similar programming languages), and ETL frameworks.
- Proven experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS) and modern data warehouses (Snowflake, Synapse, Redshift, BigQuery).
- Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques, including star schema and normalized models.
- Familiarity with big data frameworks such as Spark and Databricks is an advantage.
- Understanding of data governance and security best practices.
- Office-based role in Abu Dhabi with occasional flexibility for remote work, based on project needs.
- May be required to support cross-functional and time-sensitive project deadlines.
- Occasional travel or extended hours depending on system implementations or data initiatives.
