This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled PHP Developer to join one of our Manufacturing clients. The organisation is currently going through a large transformation program and requires an extra technical skillset, to join an existing team of 4, to keep up with workload. This is a hybrid role, requiring on-site attendance on average once per fortnight.

Role: PHP Developer
Contract: 3 months
IR35: Outside
Location: Mostly Remote (onsite for induction initially)
Day Rate: £325
Start Date: ASAP
What You'll Be Doing:
- Building and maintaining high-performance, business-critical web applications.
- Designing and implementing scalable, maintainable backend architectures.
- Developing and integrating RESTful APIs and third-party services.
- Leading by example with clean, well-tested code and sound engineering practices.
- Actively contributing to architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive hands-on PHP experience, with deep Laravel expertise.
- Strong grasp of software engineering principles and application lifecycle best practices.
- Confident with CLI tools, shell environments, and developer automation workflows.
- Solid experience with relational databases (e.g. Oracle, MySQL) and query optimisation.
- Proven ability to work effectively in collaborative, team-based environments.
- Strong version control knowledge – Git, branching strategies, and release management.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience migrating legacy applications and refactoring outdated codebases.
- Familiarity with microservices and distributed system patterns.
- Proficiency in procedural SQL (e.g., PL/SQL, T-SQL, MySQL stored procedures).
- Exposure to ACCELL/SQL (4GL) – even better if you’ve worked with it in the wild.
- Unix or AIX shell scripting experience.
- Working knowledge of frontend integration: JavaScript, jQuery, XML, Apache, Nginx.
