The Crime and Intelligence Command is based at Police Headquarters, 200 Roma Street Brisbane, opposite the Roma Street Transit Hub. The headquarters features facilities like a gym, library, and cafeteria for employees.

The Financial & Cyber Crime Group (FCCG) oversees specialised investigations into Financial Crimes, Money Laundering, and Cybercrime.

The Group is led by a Detective Superintendent and includes 2 Detective Inspectors, 3 Detective Senior Sergeants, 61 Detectives, and 6 AO3 positions, with additional support from Senior Operational Support Officers and 2 AO3 admin staff.

Within the Cybercrime Squad, the Cyber Reporting Unit (CRU) acts as the primary point for online crime reporting.

The CRU, operating under the Detective Inspector of the Cybercrime Squad, and comprises a supervising 1 Senior Sergeant, 1 Sergeant, and 4 AO4 positions

The Core Capability Requirements For This Role Are

  • Review reports of cybercrime and comply with the accepted triage process.
  • Provide initial advice to Police regarding reported cybercrimes.
  • Liaise with community members on cybercrime and scam related matters and provide advice.
  • Communicate professionally and liaise with a broad range of stakeholders and clients via multi-channels in accordance with QPS and Cyber Reporting Unit policies and standards.
  • Comply with information security policies and procedures to ensure information holding systems are kept confidential and utilised accurately and reliably whilst adhering to Service policy and other privacy requirements.
  • Maintain a continuous working knowledge of Service systems including QPRIME and ReportCyber systems.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to a positive workplace culture.


Role Requirements

Technical/ Operational/ Educational Experience

  • Access to and knowledge of ReportCyber Application Platform and QPRIME is preferred but not essential


Other

  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo psychometric assessment prior to appointment.
  • Applicants are advised that whilst performing duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual or audio) of a graphic or sensitive nature.
  • The successful applicant may be required to work within any Group/Unit or location within the Brisbane Metropolitan area where Crime & Intelligence Command conducts business.
