The Role

We are looking for a Python Developer with a passion for connecting the digital and physical worlds. In our Connectivity Team, you will be working at the intersection of IoT, hardware systems, and cloud platforms. Your main mission: build and maintain integrations that allow our AI operator R8 Jenny to communicate with a wide variety of real-world systems – from HVAC and power systems to sensors and industrial protocols (BACnet, OPC UA, etc.).

If you enjoy programming that interacts with physical systems (where things can break, need fixing, and must be made reliable), this role is for you. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team covering HVAC, building technologies, power, IT, AI, and IoT – learning from specialists while contributing your software expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve Python-based API clients and libraries for IoT devices, hardware gateways, and industry-standard protocols.
• Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues with supervisory systems.
• Write clean, tested, and well-documented code to support scalable integrations.
• Optimize performance and reliability of protocol communication.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong command of Python (core concepts, advanced features, packaging).
• Experience with creating and consuming APIs.
• Knowledge of web services (SOAP, REST) and related protocols.
• Experience with web frameworks like Django or Flask for developing web applications.
• Hands-on experience with building or industrial automation systems (e.g., Siemens, Schneider Electric, Panasonic, etc.).
• Familiarity with industrial automation protocols such as BACnet, OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, etc.
• SQL databases and ORM frameworks (e.g., SQLAlchemy).
• Git-based workflows, unit/integration testing, debugging & profiling.
• 2–5 years of professional Python development experience, including maintaining existing codebases.

Nice to Have

• Experience working directly with multi-disciplinary engineers.
• Knowledge of cloud integrations, containerization (Docker), or CI/CD pipelines.
• Interest in data analytics, visualization, or IoT platforms.
