We are seeking a hands-on, technically strong Lead Data Analyst. This is a high-impact role where you’ll lay the foundation of our data architecture and analytics strategy, working closely with leadership across the business.
About the Role
You will take full ownership of our data models, semantic layers, and governance practices, especially within the Databricks stack. You'll also coach and lead a growing team while remaining deeply involved in implementation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in high-growth environments and wants to shape how a business leverages data from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the Gold Layer of our data architecture, ensuring trusted, governed, and performant data assets for consumption across the business.
- Build relational data models and semantic layers that support AI/ML applications and self-serve analytics.
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines in Databricks, using Delta Lake and related tooling.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into high-quality data solutions.
- Establish and enforce data governance practices, including documentation, data lineage, quality checks, and access controls.
- Act as a player-coach — mentoring junior analysts/engineers while remaining hands-on in the stack.
- Drive continuous improvements in data architecture, modeling, and performance optimization.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in data modeling, data architecture, and data engineering.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with the Databricks ecosystem (e.g., Delta Lake, Spark, SQL, Unity Catalog).
- History of building and maintaining semantic layers and relational data models, ideally for AI or ML-driven products and self-service BI environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a data team through technical excellence and hands-on collaboration.
- Deep understanding of data governance, including security, access controls, and metadata management.
- Experience in fast-moving environments or startups is highly preferred.
