We’re representing a rapidly scaling, retail business that’s investing heavily in its technology and security capabilities. Following a period of sector-wide disruption, the organisation has committed to strengthening its defences and embedding security into every layer of its operations.

This is their first-ever Head of Cyber Security hire, a unique opportunity to step into a senior leadership role where you’ll set the strategy, shape the roadmap, and deliver a transformation with full board-level visibility and backing.

The Opportunity

As Head of Cyber Security, you’ll be responsible for:

• Developing and delivering a 3-5 year security strategy and roadmap across technology, people, and process.
• Embedding security by design into projects, platforms, data flows, and supply chain operations.
• Leading a growing team of security specialists and driving culture change across the wider organisation.
• Ensuring compliance with GDPR, PCI DSS, ISO 27001, and Cyber Essentials Plus.
• Driving proactive operational security, including incident response, threat monitoring, vulnerability management, and SOC integration.
• Representing security at board level, advising on risk posture, investment, and priorities.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in a senior security leadership role (Head of, Director, or equivalent).
• Strong track record building and delivering security programmes aligned to industry frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials Plus).
• Hands-on expertise across cloud (Azure, AWS) and hybrid environments.
• Deep understanding of data protection legislation and risk management.
• CISSP, CISM, or CISA certification (or equivalent).
• Excellent stakeholder management, able to translate technical risk into plain business language.
• A zero-trust mindset and the ability to lead transformation in complex environments.
