As a Cloud Operations Engineer at HCLTech, you will play a vital role in ensuring the stability, reliability, and scalability of our global cloud infrastructure. Reporting to the Manager of Cloud Operations, you will be the first line of defense in cloud health monitoring, incident response, and troubleshooting, directly impacting customer experience and the seamless delivery of our services. This role offers the opportunity to work across teams, leverage the latest technologies, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on a global platform.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the health and performance of cloud infrastructure, providing rapid first-response to incidents and potential disruptions.
• Manage and resolve cloud incidents, following established runbooks and participating in post-incident review processes.
• Coordinate with internal teams across the organization to research, troubleshoot, and resolve issues ranging from single instance failures to platform-wide disturbances.
• Handle customer escalations by collaborating with customer support and escalating complex issues to the Cloud Operations team as needed.
• Perform fleet maintenance activities, including rolling reboots, firmware upgrades, and SSD drive management, ensuring minimal customer impact.
• Automate routine processes and develop tools to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
• Document incident responses, operational procedures, and troubleshooting steps to ensure knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to analytics and reporting on cloud health metrics to proactively identify areas for improvement.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging cloud technologies and industry best practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience as a Linux system administrator or in managing large-scale cloud environments.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, including IPv4, and the ability to troubleshoot network-related issues (CCNA or equivalent knowledge preferred).
• Practical knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), including experience troubleshooting virtual machines and containers.
• Familiarity with storage technologies and concepts relevant to cloud environments.
• Experience with incident management and monitoring systems.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Ruby to automate operational tasks.
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document processes and share knowledge across teams.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven aptitude for learning new technologies and adapting to changing environments.

Nice to have:

• Experience with GPU hardware or GPU-enabled cloud services.
• Knowledge of infrastructure as code and cloud automation frameworks.
• Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or Kubernetes.
• Passion for developing operational best practices and contributing to a culture of reliability and excellence.
