The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its EIB Global Directorate – Partnerships for Impact Department – Co-financing & Partnerships Division, at its headquarters in Luxembourg: TRAINEES

Duration: 6 months (fixed start date: 1st September/October 2025)

(With possible extension up to 12 months)

Please note that the Programme is created under the Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) and is open to young nationals from one of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Region (Algeria, Egypt, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia) and ACP (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) Region, all 79 ACP Partner Countries (please see Provisions section).

Please note that you are requested to limit your applications to a maximum of three traineeship publications. We will only consider and retain the first three applications submitted.

Objective of the traineeship

You will be able to acquire practical knowledge about different mandates within the Co-financing & Partnerships Division by contributing to the design of Trust Funds and other partnerships, and/or development, monitoring and reporting of blending operations, i.e. operations benefitting from EIB Global lending and from grant or concessional funding (such as technical assistance, investment grants or financial instruments). You will have an opportunity to work in an international environment and have extensive contacts with internal and external stakeholders such as mandators, including EU Member States, and colleagues in other EU institutions and International Financial Institutions (IFIs).

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Division, Heads of Unit and more senior colleagues, You will actively participate in the Division’s core activities. Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Contribute to monitoring, following-up and reporting on operations supported under EU Regional Blending Facilities and EIB managed Trust Funds using the specific applications of the EIB;
  • Contribute to the drafting of proposals and briefing notes; help with document filing, data collection and research work;
  • Contribute to the development of new blending proposals in line with EIB Global’s strategy and business needs;
  • Contribute to the organisation of meetings with bilateral Donors and other mandators, visibility and communication activities undertaken in the context of promotion of EIB Global’s partnerships.

Academic Qualifications And Professional Skills

  • Final year of studies or University degree of a MENA/ACP partner country in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Political Science or in a related subject.
  • A first experience in the financial sector will be considered as an advantage.
  • Good to advanced knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of French will be an asset but is not a must.
