The Backend Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable, secure backend services that power digital products. This role requires deep knowledge of software engineering principles, modern development practices, and cloud-native architecture. The engineer will work in an agile, DevOps-driven environment, ensuring high standards of quality, reliability, and security.

Key responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with Business Analysts (BAs) and Product Managers to refine user stories and translate them into technical requirements.

• Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) engineers to ensure automated test coverage, proactively addressing bugs and defects.

• Work closely with DevOps teams to automate build, deployment, and monitoring pipelines.

• Develop and maintain high-performance, cloud-native APIs and backend services.

• Apply modern development practices such as TDD, pair programming, and CI/CD.

• Conduct code reviews, enforce security best practices, and uphold software craftsmanship standards.

• Design and document system architecture, ensuring compliance with government security and regulatory frameworks.

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

• Hands-on experience with Git and modern branching workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based development).

• Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Golang, Node.js, or Ruby.

• Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, gRPC, and WebSockets.

• Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Practical experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Experience building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).

• Knowledge of database technologies: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis.

• Exposure to observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, ELK stack).

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi).

• Experience creating and maintaining API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI).
