Role Summary

Join Paradino as a backend engineer focused on developing scalable, resilient services that embed Gen AI features like prompt engineering, agent tools and orchestration with cloud-native infrastructure and API integrations. Your work will enable advisers to dramatically cut administrative burdens and deliver better outcomes for their clients.

You’ll be working in a fast-paced early-stage startup environment where adaptability, ownership, and creative problem-solving are essential. You’ll collaborate directly with the founding team to shape both the technical architecture and the product direction.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop backend services in Python, with a focus on Gen AI components such as prompt design, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and agentic systems.
• Build and orchestrate AI agents: multi-agent graphs, tool use / MCP servers, with error handling, and fallback strategies.
• Develop cloud-native, scalable architectures for high availability and performance.
• Integrate AI services with internal APIs and third-party platforms (e.g., CRMs, Microsoft Graph).
• Stay informed on Gen AI advances to drive innovation of Paradino’s platform.

About You

You are a self-starter and problem-solver, who thrives on a fast paced, collaborative environment. You have been working as a software engineer for 5+ years, and hunger for challenges and learning new tech and skills. You are located within commuting distance the Sydney CBD.

Required Skills / Experience

• Python expertise with solid backend framework experience (FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar). 
• Proven background in Gen AI including prompt engineering and RAG.
• Hands-on experience designing and orchestrating AI agents.
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP or Azure), containerisation, CI/CD, and infra-as-code.
• Experience designing and integrating with APIs, third-party systems, and streaming services.
• Prior experience working in early-stage startups, including comfort with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and wearing multiple hats.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with LangGraph or comparable LLM workflow tools.
• Experience with model fine-tuning.
• Prior experience in fintech, or similarly regulated domains.
• Front end javascript experience, in React/Next.js.
