Description

At Novasign, we're redefining the future of bioprocessing. Our platform, Novasign Studio, combines intelligent hybrid models, automation, and modern microservices (SOA) architecture to accelerate the development of life-saving therapies, next-generation enzymes, and sustainable food technologies.

We're scaling fast with a growing customer base across biotech and life sciences. If you're looking to make a real-world impact with cutting-edge machine learning and SaaS technology, we want to hear from you. We're hiring ten new team members in the next four months, and this role is critical in driving our growth.

Role Summary

We are seeking a senior ML engineer with deep expertise in large language models, agentic systems, and advanced machine learning (including DNNs, RNNs, and modern architectures) to build context-aware AI assistants, knowledge extraction systems, and conversational interfaces for Novasign Studio. You will design and implement LLM-powered and agentic features that help bioprocess engineers interact naturally with our platform, extract insights from documentation, and accelerate their workflow through intelligent automation. This role focuses on productizing AI capabilities rather than fundamental research, requiring strong software engineering skills alongside deep AI/ML expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Design & implement context-aware AI assistants, agentic conversational interfaces & chatbots aligned with bioprocessing workflows in Novasign Studio
  • Develop knowledge extraction & document understanding systems for technical and user-generated content
  • Engineer multi-provider LLM infrastructure (OpenAI, Anthropic, local models) with abstraction layers
  • Build compliant data collection & curation pipelines (consent-aware) enabling domain-specific fine-tuning
  • Create evaluation frameworks covering performance, safety, and domain accuracy; integrate continuous benchmarking
  • Implement LLM MLOps: serving, monitoring, automated performance & drift tracking
  • Build and maintain RESTful & gRPC APIs for AI service integration
  • Apply software engineering & design principles (Modular Design, OOP, SOLID, DRY, KISS, Composition, Inheritance)
  • Collaborate with UX/UI, ML, and platform teams to integrate features & solve domain challenges
  • Ensure data privacy, security, and user consent adherence across AI systems
  • Monitor & assess emerging LLM/agent capabilities for workflow applicability

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, or closely related field
  • 5+ years software engineering (incl. 3+ years focused on LLMs / NLP / conversational AI)
  • Expert Python (core constructs, packaging: UV, Poetry, pip)
  • Modern LLM & ML architectures: Transformers (GPT, Claude, etc.), DNNs, RNNs; fine-tuning techniques
  • LLM APIs & provider-based architectures (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face)
  • Hugging Face ecosystem (Transformers, Datasets, Tokenizers), LangChain (agent orchestration & conversation management)
  • Production AI systems: model serving, monitoring, performance optimization
  • Hyperparameter optimization (Ray Tune, Optuna or similar)
  • GPU optimization & distributed computing for training/inference
  • FastAPI & gRPC service development; Docker / Kubernetes deployment; CI/CD workflows
  • Vector databases & RAG architectures (Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma)
  • Experiment tracking & model lifecycle (MLflow or similar)
  • AI safety, alignment & responsible AI practices
  • Design patterns & principles (DDD, SOLID, DRY, KISS, Composition, Inheritance)
  • Auth & security: OAuth2 / OIDC, JWT, RBAC integration
  • Docker & Docker Compose; Ubuntu (WSL2) development environment
  • Git workflows, CI/CD fundamentals, Agile/Scrum collaboration
  • Excellent written & verbal English communication
  • Nice to have React & TypeScript experience for AI feature integration
  • Nice to have EU AI Act compliance awareness & knowledge
  • Nice to have experience with Kubernetes model serving tools (e.g. Triton Inference Server, KServe or Seldon Core)
