Role overview
We are looking for a Business Analyst – Card Schemes with deep expertise in the rules, structures, and economics of card networks / schemes. The role involves analyzing scheme fees, interchange, assessment, and other network charges, interpreting billing statements, building calculation models, and ensuring that Torus’ platform reflects the latest updates in payment schemes economics.
This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of card scheme rules (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, UPI, and local networks), and the ability to translate this knowledge into accurate models and insights for banks, acquirers, and issuers.
Key responsibilities
· Analyze and interpret payment scheme fee structures, including:
o Interchange Fees across Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, UPI, and local networks.
o Assessment Fees (transactional, volume-based, marketing, and other charges).
· Review and validate billing statements and invoices issued by payment schemes to banks and acquirers.
· Build and maintain models for Interchange and Assessment Fee calculations, including optimal grouping of tariff programs.
· Monitor updates in payment scheme rules, tariffs, and methodologies, ensuring timely incorporation into Torus’ analytics platform.
· Define and prioritize tasks for updating the acquiring and issuing profitability analysis system.
· Conduct research and keep track of industry trends, regulatory changes, and innovations in payment scheme economics.
· Collaborate with product and data teams to integrate fee models and business rules into Torus’ SaaS platform.
Key requirements
· Strong knowledge of the principles, structure, and technologies of major international payment schemes.
· Proven ability to analyze and apply rules for charging Interchange and Assessment Fees across Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, UPI, and regional networks.
· Experience working with scheme billing statements and invoices.
· Strong analytical and modeling skills, including the ability to build, test, and adjust fee calculation models.
· Ability to monitor and interpret updates from payment schemes and translate them into actionable tasks for system updates.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
· Curiosity and continuous learning mindset to stay ahead of industry changes.
